Pro and Con
Advantages
· Hydro-power is fueled by water.
· It is not a clean fuel source.
· Hydro energy is a domestic source of energy.
· Engineers can control the flow of water from a turbine, a generator that is used for water to make electricity.
· Hydro is water, so the source can provide; food, and water. Also, it can provide a place to fish, boat, and swim.
· Hydro power is clean. Unlike gas and oil, it doesn’t pollute the air.
· It is renewable. Hydro goes through the water cycle.
· It is very efficient, falling/ flowing water goes around over and over produce electricity.
· Water made into electricity, through a generator can produce 90% of power.
· Hydropower does not need fuel to run in.
Disadvantages
· Waterpower causes fish pollution when fish can’t migrate up or down stream.
· It maintains a minimum spill which flows past the generator.
· It can impact water quality and flow.
· Hydropower plants causes low dissolve oxygen levels in the water.
· Hydroelectric power plants can be impacted by drought.
· Hydro-power plants can produce energy.
